Cruise in casual elegance as a proud heritage of sailing unfurls around you along with the massive sails. Experience the grandeur, the elation, and the tradition felt by mariners long ago. Feel the elation of mariners long ago as thousands of feet of sail unfurl above you. These magnificent sailing ships reflect a proud heritage and sailing tradition.

Today clippers balance the grandeur, the adventure and the tradition of sailing with the superb service, amenities and accommodations of the finest modern yachts. There is no better way for you to escape the pressures of everyday life.

Boating enthusiasts are welcome to lend a hand hoisting the sails, you can climb the mast, or you can just lay back and let the crew do all the work. Delight in discovering hidden gems and making new lifelong friends. Enjoy the adventure of a lifetime as many sailors have before!

History of Clippers

Originally, clippers were built for seasonal trades such as tea, where an early cargo was more valuable, or for passenger routes. The small, fast ships were ideally suited to low-volume, high-profit goods, such as spices, tea, people, and mail. Clipper bows were distinctively narrow and heavily raked forward which allowed them to rapidly cut or clip through the waves.
Clippers weren’t always used for legal trade. Often a pirate flag blew in the wind amongst the sails. Given their speed and maneuverability, clippers frequently mounted cannon or carronade and were often employed in piracy, privateering, smuggling, or interdiction service.
Decline in the use of clippers started with the economic slump following the Panic of 1857 and continued with the gradual introduction of the steamship. Although clippers could be much faster than the early steamships, clippers were ultimately dependent on the vagaries of the wind, while steamers could reliably keep to a schedule.

The Dream of Sailing

Climb the mast and view the seemingly never ending vista from the crow’s nest. Lend a hand hoisting the sails. Attend the captain’s daily briefing each morning or join him in the bridge as he plots out the course for the next landfall. Learn how to splice a line, reef a sail or tie a square knot. You might be offered a chance to swab the deck!
The dream of sailing will be fulfilled whether it is your dream to work or to just enjoy the atmosphere. It is your choice! If hoisting the sails is not your thing, then just relax and let the crew do the work. Feel the salty air as it blows into the sails and across your face. Stand on deck and feel the anticipation as another exotic port comes into view over the horizon. Listen to the countless tales told by the captain and the crew. This is your paradise.

A Marvelous Adventure

Your adventure starts the moment you embark and continues as you discover your ship and exciting ports of call. Glide among the emerald-clad jewels of the Caribbean. Enjoy the incomparable adventure of an epic ocean crossing. Be beguiled by the ancient, sun-warmed ports of the Mediterranean or be intrigued by the mysteries of the Far East and Central America. Explore the world in casual elegance, enjoying each and every day, whether it is an enticing new port or a relaxing day at sea.
